Memphis and Little Rock

We were going to breeze through Memphis. Maybe a quick stop. Then we thought about it and realized even though we're not big Elvis fans we had to check out Graceland. It was right on the way! I wish we could have had more time in Memphis. It would have been great to stay longer and hear some blues and see the sights but at least we got to see this. Graceland was what we expected: cheesy and over the top. But it was fun! We didn't actually do the house tour (a bit more expensive and time consuming than we wanted). Instead we goofed around in the gift shop, checked out the restaurant and chatted with people who thought Dom was cute.
Did you know that Elvis had two planes? He even used one to fly to Denver to eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
After our little break we headed to Little Rock Arkansas. Which brings me to one of our conversations in the car. Why is it pronounced Arkansaw but written Ar-Kansas? Don't you love road trip conversations?! Anyways, when we got to Arkansas (are you reading it ar-kansas now? I know I do!) we checked out their River Walk and then got some very authentic Cajun food.
That brings me to another aside. We detoured a bit on the way and took a small road that ran parallel to the highway...and we saw bayou!! Yep, trees with their roots exposed in swamps and we saw some very authentic looking shacks with many derelict cars out front. Kinda fun. We kept singing the song from deliverance. The landscape was really pretty. Much more woodsy than I expected.
It was another great day! Enjoy the pics :-)

We saw this boat house on our detour off the interstate.

This was a view from the park in Downtown Little Rock.
