Very close to Amarillo, Texas, is an art installation called Cadillac Ranch. It's a line of 10 Cadillacs nose down in the earth. The Cadillacs are spray painted many times over and spray painting them is encouraged. It was very cool to see!
On the way we took a couple of detours to the Old Route 66 to see the old restaurants and Motels. It was total blast from the past. It almost felt like a set from a movie at times.
We then headed out for Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque is nestled among some beautiful dessert foothills. We stopped in to see a view. We also wanted to go to the Sandia Peak Tramway but when we got there it was closed. Oh well! We still got some pretty pics, even from the base.
The downtown is small and the scyscrapers are short and few. But then, anything would be stunted by the majestic foothills.
We saw quite a mix of people. Lots of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts but also lots of grittiness downtown. We also went for some AMAZING Mexican food. Yum! It was a cool place.
